I forgot to tell you. At the Norfolk County Quilters’ Guild today they were measuring every quilt that was shown at Show-and-Tell. I asked our hostess and president Terry what it was all about and she told me.
The guild is keeping track of the length of every binding of every finished quilt that is shown at guild this year. They are hoping to reach one mile of binding by the end of the year.
Isn’t that a cool thing to do? It’s sneaky, too – it makes people finish their UFOs so they can contribute to the mileage. After all, when the binding is on, the quilt is FINISHED!
How is your guild encouraging its members to finish their quilts?

Last year our guild had a challenge. In September we had to list 10 unfinished quilts we had. We were to try to finish as many as we could between Sept and June. For each completed UFO on our list we had an entry for a drawing at the end of the year for a cash prize.

That’s a great way to commit to finish UFOs, Patty. I have met a few (and only a few) guild members over the years who have NO UFOs!! How weird is that, eh?
