Kayaking on Marlborough Sound

We returned to Colin and Alex’s home in Anakiwa after our adventures to the west.  It was great to get “home” again! We were lucky with the weather on Friday and the Sound was like glass in the morning. Alex said “we’re going kayaking!”.

Thanks to Outward Bound, we were able to borrow a couple of sea kayaks and do a bit of paddling until the wind picked up and made the water too choppy. We made it almost halfway over to Picton! Ah, this is the life – and the best way to see the area.

Ready to go!

Ready to go!

Lunch stop - what a day!

We have departed from our restful and adventuresome time on the South Island now. We hopped the Interislander ferry yesterday and are preparing for our house concert tonight in Wellington.

Our ferry arrives

Our chariot arrives

Sad to leave, but we are looking forward to our next adventures on the North Island. There are still 12 days left before we get home. We can fit a LOT of adventures into that time!
