One Down: Abilene

The first gig of our tour is over, and it went very well.  We’re in Abilene Texas today, and were met with some wonderful Texas hospitality.  We were well taken care of by Susan and Patsy.

It’s been a great drive down.  Beautiful weather, too, until yesterday, when the skies opened up and we saw rain pelting down harder than we’ve ever before had to drive through!  There were small towns whose sewer systems weren’t up to the task, and we had to drive through very large puddles on the road.

Before the rain started, it was all desert and long views.

It’s Canadian Thanksgiving, and, once again, we’re nowhere near a proper Turkey dinner! But we found some turkey roll available at the local BBQ restaurant last night, and that had to do.

Turkey, creamed corn, cole slaw and corn bread! (WHAT? No cranberry sauce?!?!)

Today I taught a Mock Mola class and had four wonderful students.  Most of them got their pieces done well before the end of class, so we ended about an hour and a half early.  Beautiful pieces.

This will be a pillow, I believe.

And Patsy finished her piece JUST BEFORE the meeting started!

We enjoyed the audience tonight – it’s the first show we’ve done for a while, and it’s good to be “back in the saddle again”!!!

Onward to Keller tomorrow and Texas City on Thursday.
